Scotland, Edinburgh
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Edinburgh, the beautiful capital of Scotland. It was a magical trip, and as my daughter and I are big Harry Potter fans (I should use the word Nerd at some point), we followed J.K Rowling's path and visited many places that inspired the HP universe.
First, we went to Victoria Street and had the feeling of walking on Diagon Alley. It was unique, beautiful, and colorful. We really enjoyed this street.
After that, we went to Greyfriars Kirkyard and found Thomas Riddle's tomb and the one of William McGonagall. I have always loved cemeteries, and in Denmark, they are gorgeous, and you can have a peaceful walk with your family, especially in Copenhagen. But the one in Edinburg was magical and really unforgettable. We also found some motifs coming back a lot, which looked like the Death Eaters mark.
We walked in front of the Elephant House, where J.K. Rowling started to write her books. And also in front of the Balmoral Hotel, where she wrote the last chapter of the 7th book.
We touched her golden hands and went to do some Harry Potter shopping in Diagon Alley again.
What I loved the most was finding all these little hints, all this history in this city. We were in this inspiring universe, watching kids returning from school in their uniform, seeing the statue of this faithful dog Bobby, and listening to this beautiful Scottish accent. We watched the man on the tram asking for the ticket, just as Stan did on the Night Bus. We tried to put all the pieces together of this puzzle.
It was like in "Shakespeare in love" (a movie that I adore so much) or "Georges Lucas in love." Even if it's not true, even if it's not sure, it was so magic.
Keep in touch; I'm coming soon with a Harry Potter collection :)
